Every year, an intrepid group of boaters get together for what is really 2 separate events on the upper Potomac River – the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights! This year, the parade will be on December 7 at the Alexandria Waterfront, and the DC Wharf. Because this is actually 2 separate events, we’ll try to summarize this event in 2 sections:
Alexandria Waterfront
Festivities start at 2PM and include hands-on activities and food and beverage options at Waterfront Park, as well as a holiday festival at Torpedo Factory Art Center. Santa will arrive via fireboat at 3:30PM for the kids, and the boat parade starts at 5:30PM. The whole event lasts until 8PM. More info here!
DC Wharf
This event starts at 5PM on the waterfront, and includes Corona Cheer Garden, s’mores, ornament decorating, live music by DC bands, visits with Santa & much more. Last year, Jack Daniels was there with their Christmas tree made of whiskey barrels and tasty drinks! We hope to see them again this year. The boats will show up at 7PM, and the massive fireworks will start at 8PM. Check out the event details here!
You have to check out all of these amazingly decorated boats, and you really don’t want to miss this massive party!
