Gunston Cove anchorages are offer great protection when the winds are out of the south. Here you will find a nice sandy bottom and beautiful surroundings. There are anchorages on either side of the point where Gunston Hall is located, right across from Fort Belvoir, and it’s just southeast of the Pohick Bay Regional Park, which has a boat ramp!
Approach from the Potomac River, favoring the Gunston Hall side of the cove, and you’ll find depths of 5-6 feet all the way to the anchorage.
