Fireworks Season is Here!

Update: Added Indian Head (Thanks Lance Frye!)

Every year around July 4, there’s a whole host of fireworks shows, and we all know the best place to watch fireworks is from a boat on the river! So once again, we present you with the annual Fireworks Roundup:

Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon is setting off their Independence Day fireworks on June 28 and 29, from 6PM till 9:30PM. You’ll probably see a lot of boats off the coast near the mansion. Just drop an anchor and enjoy the show!

Colonial Beach
Colonial Beach usually puts on a great show, and this year it will happen just after dark on July 3. You can hit up Snag-a-Slip to find a slip that fits ya! Downtown is the best place to view this impressive show.

Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. also puts on a great show, of course probably because they are using your money! We normally do a separate post for this one due to all the restricted areas, and we will again, but just FYI they will be starting theirs on July 4 at the oddly specific time of 9:09PM. More to come on this one.

Alexandria, VA
While it’s not necessarily celebrating Independence Day, Alexandria’s birthday celebration is usually pretty epic! This year it will be held on July 13, from 6PM – 10PM. This is yet another occasion to drop and anchor, listen to music, and enjoy one awesome show!

Indian Head
The town of Indian Head will be lighting off their show around 9PM on July 4 (rain date is July 5), and we are told it’s a really good show. Unfortunately the coastal area there is right in the main Potomac channel near red marker #54. However, if pull out of the channel to stop and watch, you should have a pretty good view. Don’t anchor in the channel though, like “that guy.”
