Every year on the fourth Sunday of September is World Rivers Day, which celebrates the world’s waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. Much like last year, the Potomac Riverkeeper Network is putting together a boat parade as a fundraiser in order to fund their critical work protecting the public’s right to a cleaner and safer river for all.
Anyone can register and participate in the parade, which starts at buoy #2 outside of Barca in Old Town Alexandria, and ends at Transit Pier at The DC Wharf. And of course, there will be an after party to be held at Cantina Bambina for participants! Might be a good idea to get an overnight slip at the Wharf Marina. So if you are looking for something to do in September, head over the Potomac Riverkeeper Network’s website and signup here!
